Environment protection programme conducted

An 'Environment Protection Programme' was held today at the conference hall of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Thoubal.
The programme was organised by the National Cooperative Union of India - Cooperative Education Field Project (NCUI-CEFP), Thoubal under the sponsorship of the National Centre for Cooperative Education, New Delhi.
Dr Zeshmarani Sarangthem, Senior Scientist and Head Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Thoubal; Jeena Potsangbam, Chairperson NCUI-Project Coordination Committee Manipur and Governing Council Member, NCUI, New Delhi; N Tomba Singh, Subject Matter Specialist (SMS) - Agronomy, KVK Thoubal and RK Lembisana, SMS Home Science, KVK Thoubal graced the occasion as the presidium members.

During the programme, the Subject Matter Specialists spoke on the topic 'Natural Farming, Irrigation Management and Conservation Agriculture' .
Members of farmer clubs and Self Help Groups participated in today's programme.
Speaking as the chief guest, Dr Zeshmarani highlighted the importance of adopting environmentally friendly agricultural practices so as to prevent further degradation of the environment.
Addressing the gathering, Jeena Potsangbam said that today's programme has been held in a bid to help the farmers continue their farming activities without any hindrance amid the prevailing tense situation.
She assured that NCUI will continue to organise similar farmers' welfare programmes in association with Krishi Vigyan Kendras which are working in close coordination with the farmers.
Certificates were also distributed to the partcipating farmers.
