Imphal, May 30 2017:
Following an assurance given by Parliamentary Secretary (Home), L Sushindro Meitei that the culprits involved in the killing of H Priyokumar alias Yaima would be booked at the earliest, the JAC formed in connection with the killing of H Priyokumar has shortened its 48 hours bandh to 24 hours.
As such, the bandh will end at midnight today (Tuesday) .
According to a statement, the Government also agreed to unconditionally release JAC members who were arrested in connection with the bandh today.
At the same time, the JAC also agreed to claim the body of Priyokumar.
It was also agreed that the JAC members would hold further talks with the Parliamentary Secretary (Home) to solve pending issues in connection with the death of Priyokumar.
It may be mentioned that the body of Priyokumar alias Yaima (26) s/o H Manichandra of Heingang Panthoibi Leikai was found hanging from a tree on May 26 after he reportedly went missing from MG Avenue on May 17 .
The JAC formed in connection with the death of Priyokumar had enforced a bandh since last midnight demanding the Govt to book the culprits involved in the death of the youth.
