Memorandum submitted

The Tribal Fish Farmers' Committee has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister to take up necessary steps to implement Paddy cum Pisciculture scheme in the interest of the fish farmers of the hill districts.
According to a press release issued today by the committee, the memorandum urged the authority concerned to enable the release of necessary payment under the development of paddy cum pisciculture scheme for the eligible beneficiaries.
It stated that the committee has been meeting officials and Ministers concerned regarding the matter and added that it has also been issuing numerous press statements for the release of the payment.
It pointed out that the committee met the Tribal Affairs and Hills, Fisheries Minister on April 24 this year and were given assurance that the matter would be taken up with the Director of Fisheries immediately and added that although the payment had been deposited in the DFO's account concerned, it has not been released till now.
It urged the State Government to address the grievances of the farmers and threatened to launch democratic agitation if there are no positive response from authority's side.
