Claiming that the fake news uploaded on social media by the volunteers of Lamding Educated Welfare Association (LEWA) on November 24 has led to the suicide of one labourer, a Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed in this matter has threatened the association concerned to take full responsibility for the death.
Speaking to media persons during a press meet held at the residence of the deceased Nongmaithem Lamayanba alias Pibarel (19) at Kumbi Awang Khunou Ward no 6, JAC president, Jaya Khangembam said that N Lamyanba was a well-mannered youth who had recently passed a physical test for IRB recruitment process and was waiting for a written examination.
On seeing an unattended mobile phone in one Auto Rickshaw near his workplace on November 24 last, Pibarel played the phone for a brief period, he said adding that the phone was handed to its owner after he shows up a few moments later and there wasn't any confrontation between the two sides.
Jaya also contended that Pibaral was on medications for insomnia.
Claiming that the volunteers of LEWA summoned the three colleagues of the deceased in their office and beat them up without having any proof of them involving in any wrongdoing, Jaya urged the volunteers of LEWA to take full responsibility of the death and eventualities.
Meanwhile, a press release issued by LEWA has contended that one tablet strip and heroin, apart from the mobile phone were seized from Nongmaithem Lamayanba on November 24.It also claimed that Nongmaithem Lamayanba and his friends have confessed that they are drug users.
