Cabinet for action against bandh supporters

Responding to the demand of transporters to compensate for the damages done to their vehicles during the bandh called against diversion of MGNREGS fund to ADC, the State Cabinet has decided to compensate the transporters by collecting certain amount from the bandh sponsors in the form of retribution.
Meanwhile, the Government has agreed to hold the next round of tripartite talk involving the UNC at New Delhi on any convenient date between August 29 and 31. Altogether 82 oil tankers were damaged when supporters of the bandh called by the JAC against diversion of MGNREGS fund attacked them along NH 2 in Senapati district.
Taking serious note of the demand of All Manipur Petroleum Drivers Union and the All Manipur Petroleum Product and Transporters Association, the State Cabinet decided to compensate for the damaged tankers by deducting certain amount from the MGNREGS fund.
As the miscreants which attacked the trucks have been identified, the State cabinet has directed the DGP to take up befitting action against them, informed a senior Minister.
The Government has also resolved to take up more security measures along the highway.
Meanwhile, CAF&PD Minister M Okendra has stated that there is plenty of fuel oils in stock.
He appealed to the public not to indulge in panic buying of fuel oils.
The Cabinet meeting held today also discussed about the UNC�s demand to carry forward the tripartite talk and resolved to take part in the next round of talk, informed another source.
It also conveyed about the Union Ministry�s intimation to the UNC to call of the latter�s proposed total bandh.
