Voters turn out rate high in by-election of 4 Assembly constituencies
except some complaints, polling peaceful

Imphal, November 07 2020: By-election in the four assembly constituencies of Manipur which is being conducted in the four Assembly constituencies is reported to be peaceful except for some minor complaints at some polling stations of Saitu Assembly Constituency and Lilong Assembly constituency.

All together 10 candidates are in the fray for the four seat.

1, 31, 512 electors will decide the fate of the candidates.

Earlier By-election was announced for five assembly constituencies, however after the rival candidate of BJP had withdrawn his candidature at Singhat Assembly constituency, BJP candidate Ginsaunhao has been declared elected.

Voters turn out rate high in by-election of 4 Assembly constituencies

Of the four assembly constituencies conducting by-poll today BJP didn't field any of its party candidate at Lilong Assembly constituency but openly supported MD Abdul Nashir , an independent candidate.

Congress had field its candidate MD Azizul Haque Khan in this constituency and is having a tough fight among the contenders.

Two other independent candidates are MD Abdul Zabar Khan and Y Antas Khan.

Voting percentage at 3 pm was reported to be over 70% .

There were no report of any major incident taken place but at polling station 30/21 , a voter reported lapses in EVM machine.

Voting has been announced to be concluded at 5 pm but large number of voters were seen waiting for their turn at each polling station at around 4pm .

At Saitu Assembly constituency where the Congress Candidate Dr Lamtingthang Haokip and BJP Candidate Ngamthang Haokip is having a straight fight, a voter at Leimakhong had stated that she has been threatened by a BJP workers of dire consequences if not voted for the BJP candidate.

This was a verbal complaint she made through media and no official intimation has been made.

Total voters of the Saitu assembly constituency are 39890 and at around 4pm the voter turn out has cross 70% .

At Wangoi and Wangjing Tentha Assembly constituencies the voters turn out rate was also high crossing 60 percent at around 3 pm .

It is expected to reach 80 percent turn out by the end of the voting.

There were no reports of any unwanted incident.

However, it is in this two constituencies that the ruling BJP is putting all its labour to make sure that they win in both the constituencies.

However, the same effort is also seen being put up by the Congress party and they too expect good result.

NPP is also expecting the seat at Wangoi Assembly constituency.
