Assam Rifles organises COVID-19 awareness drive

Imphal, November 07 2020:
A COVID-19 awareness drive was conducted by Troops of Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) at Awangkasom and Poi villages of Ukhrul district yesterday.
The residents were sensitized about the importance of adherence to the guidelines of COVID-19 in restricting the spread of the virus in the society.
The Importance of social distancing, using hand sanitizers and applying face masks to break the chain of transmission of the virus was also highlighted during the drive, said a statement of IGAR (S) .

In view of the impending Christmas Celebrations and foreseeing arrival of extra populace from other cities, the importance of home quarantine was harped upon, it said while adding that masks and medicines were also distributed among the villagers.
COVID awareness banners were presented to the village headmen for display at prominent locations in the villages as a constant reminder of the precautionary measures to be taken, it said.
More than 50 villagers participated in the awareness drive.
The villagers expressed their gratitude to Assam Rifles for educating and helping out in curtailing the spread of COVID-19 and pledged to follow all guidelines, it continued.
