Manipur as Best Improved State status

Manipur has been conferred the Best Improved State in Governance among Small States of India' award in the India Today Chief Ministers Conclave held today at New Delhi.
Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Md Allaudin Khan received the award on behalf of the Chief Minister of Manipur.
According to a press release issued by Secretary to Chief Minister Sumant Singh, the award was given away by Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee at an award ceremony held at Hotel Hyatt, New Delhi.
The selection of Manipur for the award was based on the annual survey of States of India conducted by India Today Group.
Manipur was chosen as the best improved State in the sector of governance.
The parameters for the award in respect of governance sector included inter alia trends of crime rate, strength of civil police and other law and order related norms.
Assam also received the award in the category of most improved State in governance among large States.
Mizoram was conferred the award for improvement in agriculture sector.
