SHDDC submits representation to titular King

Members of Sadar Hills Districthood SHDDC today called on titular king of Manipur Leishemba Sanajaoba at the Utra Shanglen of Royal Palace and submitted a written representation highlighting its response to latter's earlier appeal to suspend economic blockade and other issues pertaining to Sadar Hills district demand.
During the meeting, Leishemba Sanajaoba observed that the district demand for Sadar Hills is inching towards its goal.
Central government should pay attention and take up necessary measures in this regard at the earliest possible.
Otherwise, Centre should abandon Manipur and let the people decide their own destiny.
Contending that the 40-year old issue over Sadar Hills district demand could have been resolved long ago, the titular king lamented the trend of waiting for public anger and agitation before resolving anything in Manipur today.
Now that the government has given its assurance over Sadar Hills district demand, we have to wait and see for some time, the titular king observed, and added that the state government should also try to arrive at an amicable solution with the UNC to end the ongoing counter blockade.
Hailing the contribution of Kukis in Manipuri society, he also appealed for unity among the hill and the valley people in Manipur and observed that inter-caste marriage should be encouraged to bring the people emotionally closer.
Appreciating the effort and support of the titular king, President of SHDDC Ngamkhohao Kipgen explained that SHDDC took the decision of lifting its economic in consideration of the appeal made by the titular king.
The agitation launched by SHDDC is not to cause suffering to the people but to press the government of India and Manipur for looking after developmental needs of the people living in Sadar hills area.
"Just as the forefathers of Kukis have foretold, there would be no love loss among us as long as there is sun and moon in the sky", Ngamkhohao said, while recalling the efforts of Kuki forefathers towards protecting the territorial integrity of Manipur.
