'Beating the Retreat' ceremony held

Imphal, January 27 2024:
The 75th Republic Day celebration concluded today with a 'Folk dance festival and Beating the Retreat' ceremony held at 1st Manipur Rifles Parade Ground in Imphal.
The ceremony was graced by Governor of Manipur, Anusuiya Uikey as the chief guest, said a release issued by PRO Raj Bhavan.
As part of the programme, the Governor felicitated four village chiefs and chairmen from Noney and Tamenglong districts with red blankets.
The Governor also distributed prizes to the winners of the folk dance festival held today.
A cash prize of Rs 1,00,000 was awarded to the winning (first position) troupe- Sangeet Kala Sangam, Khurai, Imphal East while Rs 75,000 was given to Lianda Folk and Classical Academy, Imphal West, for securing second position and Rs 50,000 was presented to Tribal Cultures and Research Centre, Tamenglong district for the third position.

She also distributed prizes to the winners of the March Past competition held yesterday (Republic Day parade) in different categories.
In the uniform contingent, BSF secured 1st position, CRPF and Tripura State Rifles were placed 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
In the school and other contingents, 1st MR Unit High School, Anouba Mangal Trust (Social Welfare Department) and Pari Imom Contingent secured 1st, 2nd & 3rd positions respectively.
Home Guard Female band, 2nd MR band bagged 1st & 2nd positions respectively while CRPF Band and 1st MR Band jointly secured the 3rd position.
Among the cultural dance troupes, Talui Naga Village Dance Troupe, Ukhrul; Mao Cultural Dance Troupe, Senapati and Maring Lhousha Dance Troupe, Tengnoupal won the 1st, 2nd & 3rd positions respectively.
The Directorate of Information & Public Relations won the first position in the tableau category.
The ceremony was also attended by Chief Minister N Biren Singh, Ministers, MLAs, Chief Secretary and other civil & police officers.
