National Integration Tour flagged off

Ukhrul, December 17 2023:
A 13-day National Integration Tour (NIT) for the people of Kamjong, Tengnoupal and Imphal was flagged off by Brigadier Vaibhav Shinde, Commander 10 Sector Assam Rifles at Somsai Garrison, Ukhrul.
The NIT bound for Kolkata, West Bengal was organised under Operation Sadbhavna and comprised 34 people onboard.
This included 25 students hailing from Kamjong, Tengnoupal and Imphal district who will proceed to venture beyond Manipur and explore historical and cultural places in cities and institutions of national eminence.
Speaking at the flagging off programme, Brigadier Vaibhav Shinde stated that the main objective behind organising the 13-day touring programme was to provide a platform to the youth to nurture the feeling of national integration, social harmony and build inquisitiveness while simultaneously providing students exposure to the rich culture, history and armed forces of the nation.
A programme has been arranged for the students to interact with the Governor as well as the Army Commander, Eastern Command at Kolkata.
The touring individuals consist of Naga, Kuki and Meitei communities.
This is to create a sense of harmonious living, and enable them to share and expose their respective traditions as India is a country of diverse culture.
The participants embarked on this tour from Somsai via road to Dimapur from where they will move to Kolkata by train.
During the flagging off programme, the parents and faculties conveyed gratitude to Assam Rifles for this valuable opportunity.
Most of the participating students hail from far flung remote villages of the district.
The National Integration Tour was organised by Assam Rifles 10 Sector, Ukhrul under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (South), Imphal.
