Govt proposed to reserve job for PwDs: Commissioner

Commissioner (Persons with Disability) W Birahari stressed on the importance to make aware all government department on facilities available for Persons with Disability (PwD) under the Rights of Persons with Disability Act, 2016 along with informing that the government had been apprised tp earmark reservation for Persons with Disability in job recruitment in every department.
W Birahari stated this during the felicitation function of men and women players who took part in the 7th national wheelchair basketball championship held at Chhattisgarh from November 21 as well as Chakpram Lokeshwori and Md Yunis Khan at Thangapat Mapal community hall on Sunday.
Lokeshwori has been selected to represent India at the Asia Oceania Zone (AOZ) wheelchair basketball championship to be held at Bangkok, Thailand from January 9 to 12 while Yunis Khan will be coach of the Indian team.
According to W Birahari, Persons with Disability would get their entitled rights under the Rights of Persons with Disability Act, 2016 when the Act is implemented fully and all the government departments need to understand rights of Persons with Disability.
He said that social welfare department alone cannot fulfil rights of the disabled persons.
The felicitation function was also attended by deputy director (social welfare) L Dhaneswar, Manipur Commission for Women member Chongsin Koireng, DDAm and WBAM advisor Y Kiran Singh, Manipur Police Housing Corporation assistant engineer A Pipachandra, CYLC advisor K Chingtham and retired assistant commandant A Surendra Sharma.
