Imphal, September 11:
Expressing deep concern over the withering of some part of world renowned "Samballei Sekpil" in the last few weeks, Samballei Sekpil Foundation has appealed to the State Government and all citizens concerned of the State to extend their co-operation and help in preserving the plant, which is globally known all over.
Speaking at a press conference today, the foundation's secy information and publicity H Singhajit informed that the unusual withering of the plant is due to lack of nutrients which the owner of the plant has not been able to provide on account of paucity of funds.
He also lamented that the Government has not provided any assistance till today for maintaining the plant despite repeated appeals from the foundation.
He also said that the plant will continue withering and will perish within a few weeks if proper manure and nutrients are not provided immediately.
The withered portion of the plant lies between the 33 topiary steps and the top most-portion of the plant.
