Imphal, May 10:
While reiterating its decision to persist with the ongoing economic blockade All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) has asked owners/drivers of two vehicles to clarify their position on alleged allegations levelled against the student body.
Citing registration numbers of the two DI pick-up trucks as AS01M/0351 and MN01K/5884 and asking the owners/driver to report at the Old Lambulane office of ATSUM within 48 hours, the body also warned that failure response positively would compel ATSUM to take its own course of action.
On the otherhand, ATSUM acknowledged that due to the economic blockade enforced since May 2 the general public had been facing inconveniences but hastened to add it is left with no other option than to persist with the current mode of agitation as the State Government is adamant to address grievances of the tribal people of Manipur.
"Those who want to blame and curse us may do so at their own and we have nothing to say on it.
But we on our part, blame the State Government for all that has taken place and is going to take place.
"It is needless to point out here that the State Government at one point of time or the other has already committed itself to resolve all those issues we presently raised," said an ATSUM release issued by its information and publicity secretary.
Stating that ATSUM had at no point of time sought help or cooperation of any other agency or institution with the exception of 'our sister organisation', the release reacting to alleged accusation by individuals/agencies affirmed it do the needful on its own prerogative.
Further re-couting that on May 2 ATSUM had re-submitted its charter of demand to authorities concerned, the release left it to the Govt to approve them or reject it with a proper reason.
