A public seminar on "Self-reliant Economy" was organised by the Man League Manipur in association with the District Cooperative Education Office, Thoubal at HIM Public School ground, Umathel today.
In her presidential speech, president of Man League Manipur Nongleima Haobam observed that Manipur was once a sovereign kingdom with its own self-reliant economy in South East Asia but its economy has crumbled to the stage of total dependence today.
Under the existing condition marked by total collapse of the State's own economy, it is crucial for the indigenous people to cultivate a healthy work culture.
At a time when indigenous products and produces have become very rare in big markets of the State, it's time to lay a strong foundation for a sound economy for future generations, she said.
Addressing the seminar, president of the Manipur State Cooperative Union Kh Borkishore exhorted the people to cultivate work culture and thrift policies.
The seminar was also attended by Dean of CAU Prof N Iboton and chairman of HIM Public School Chingkheinganba as presidium members.
