Bandh called off

The indefinite bandh called along Imphal-Moreh Road by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed in protest against killing of Pallel Zilla Parishad member Md Sahabuddin has been called off following a joint meeting with Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh.
Representatives of the JAC today met the Chief Minister today morning and arrived at an understanding.
Consequently, the body of Sahabuddin has also been claimed by the bereaved family members.
According to representatives of the JAC who met the Chief Minister, the latter gave the assurance of meeting the demands of the JAC.
The demands of the JAC include payment of ex-gratia to the bereaved family and appointment of a close kin of the deceased to a suitable Government post and arrest of all those involved in the killing at the earliest possible.
The bullet-riddled body of Sahabuddin was found near a canal at Sora Awang Leikai Leirak Achouba yesterday morning after he had been called out by some people through mobile phone the previous night.
A couple who allegedly were involved in the killing of Sahabuddin have been lynched by an angry mob yesterday afternoon and their house set aflame.
Meanwhile, the body of an unidentified persons who was found dead at Keishampat Churachandpur Bus parking in the night of March 25 has been disposed off today.
Before handing it over to Imphal Municipality for disposal, the post-mortem examination of the body, which had been lying at the mortuary of RIMS all these days, was conducted earlier today.
