Speaking on the occasion, Dr Meinya said that 10 more health melas will be organised for all the remaining eight districts and two other melas for the two parliamentary constituencies separately.
Stressing on the need to stay fit and healthy, Meinya stated that people who are struggling with dreaded diseases like cancer can seek support from the Government through Prime Ministers Relief Fund, Ambedkar Foundation and Union Health Ministry.
Patients who need such relief may write directly to him, Meinya added.
Appreciating DHS and AMSU for organising the event, K Meghachandra maintained that such health melas are must in rural areas where health awareness is less concerned.
He said that people in the State are becoming less healthy due to the mental stress generated by the prevailing law and order situation and adulterated foods.
He also appealed the concerned to implement the health schemes properly funded by the Central Government.
M Hemanta in his poetic style delved into the changing scenario of the State and its relation with health problems during his speech.
Despite having different problems, we should not forget the responsibility towards the society, he opined.
Mentioning some ugly episodes of strives between patient parties and doctors, Khamba Laishram opined that every profession irrespective of his position/rank must work responsibly.
He added that leaving Imphal, health facilities in other districts are in pitiable condition.
Around 100 doctors including 20 specialists examined 3530 patients in 72 stalls during the three-day mela.
