Bodies warn Tiddim road bandh

Imphal, July 29 2017: Taking serious note of the move to demolish the crematorium at Malom Tuliyaima Awang Leikai in the name of road expansion, three frontal organisations have warned of imposing an indefinite bandh along Tiddim road if the authority concerned does not construct an alternative crematorium before demolishing the earlier one .

The three organisations are Ibudhou Pakhangba Thougallup, Malom No 1 Students' Club and Development Committee, Malom Tuliyaima Awang Leikai .

Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, Raman Laishram representing the three organisations said that repeated appeals had been made to the new BJP-led coalition Government as well as to the previous Government to construct an alternative crematorium at the locality before demolishing the earlier one .

But it seems that the pleas have gone unheard, he said, cautioning that the organisations may resort to launch other form of agitation if the demand is not fulfilled within a stipulated time.
