PREPAK leader murder case: Court rejects co-accused's bail plea

Imphal, July 29 2017:
Special Court, NIA Manipur has rejected a bail application filed by a co-accused in the PREPAK chairman murder case .
The co-accused is identified as Sairom Rabichandra @ Rabi (39) s/o Ahanbi of Uripok Yambem Leikai, Imphal West .
He had filed the bail application under Section 439 of CrPC.
The co-accused in his bail application mentioned that he is a freelance worker and had applied for various Government jobs .
He denied the allegations made against him by the prosecution .
Clarifying that he is not related to any other underground outfits, he claimed that the prosecution has failed to prove his involvement in the commission of the crime .
The co-accused also claimed that he is a heart patient undergoing treatment and has a kidney stone for which a surgical procedure is awaited .
On the other hand, the counsel representing NIA alleged that the co-accused delivered weapon to the accused number 1 and 2 in the murder of PREPAK chairman for execution of the case .
Observing that investigation of the case is in its early stage, the Court rejected the bail plea of the co-accused and directed the jail authority to give required medical facilities to him while he is in police custody .
The Court also directed the jail authority to admit the co-accused in JNIMS Hospital if necessary .
It may be mentioned that Sairom Rabichandra was arrested by a team of NIA from his residence on July 7 last five days after the investigation agency filed a charge sheet before the Special Court, NIA Manipur with regard to the killing of PREPAK chairman Ningombam Nabachandra @ Nongdrenkhomba and his driver Leishangthem Sanjit inside the quarter of 7th MR at Khabeisoi on the intervening night of June 21 and 22 of last year.
