During today's sit-in protest, Sapamcha Jadumani on behalf of the civil society organisations demanded immediate dismantling of NSCN-IM's designated camps insisting that the ceasefire agreement between the rebel group and Central Government does not cover Manipur.
Recounting frequent blockades of National Highways, destruction caused to goods carriers and killing of transporters, he observed that failure of the Government to check such anti-people activities amounts to indirectly encouraging intention of subversive elements to disintegrate Manipur.
Regretting that Government of Manipur is not able to exert pressure on the Central Government leaders to initiate suitable measures for rounding up Livingstone Anal, Jadumani insisted that nefarious agenda of the NSCN (IM) should be exposed before the global fraternity.
All Manipur Matam Eshei Kanglup president Prof Jodhchandra Sanasam in his address stated that the ongoing agitation against the NSCN (IM) should be sustained as the people cannot expect positive measures from the State Government.
Nupi Samaj general secretary Th Ramani proposed that pressure should be exerted on the three women legislators of the State to take relevant action as the current issue concerns interest and dignity of the women.
UCM president Y Naba-chandra, Film Forum Manipur chairman L Surjakanta Sharma and AMUCO president KT Rahman condemning anti-people activities of the NSCN (IM) suggested that the ongoing agitation need to be intensified.
