Imphal, June 10 2021:
Higher and Technical Education (H&TE), Education (S) and SCERT Commissioner, M Harekrishna convened a meeting with representatives of 6 students bodies at his Babupara office to discuss various issues including the question of whether the Class X and Class XII board exams will be held or not.
During the meeting the representatives of 6 student bodies viz- AMSU, MSF, DESAM, KSA, SUK and AIMS brought up 6 pertinent issues, said a joint statement of the student bodies.
The student bodies had appealed to the authorities concerned to make it clear whether this year's Class X and XII examinations will be conducted or cancelled to ease the fear and pressure the students are facing, said the statement.
The bodies had also appealed for opening an 'in-service (Higher Education or School Education) teaching centre or institute' at the earliest to facilitate 'continuous development programme', the statement said.
Thirdly, the bodies had drawn the attention for increase in seat capacities for trainees (pre-service and in-service) at DM College of Teacher Education and to focus more on pre-service, it said.
The student bodies had also urged to give equal emphasis to 'School Education' as that of 'Higher Education' and to work out a policy for in-service training programmes with which they can acquaint themselves with the use of educational technologies, it said.
While urging for introduction and maintenance of the academic calendar, the bodies also went on to seek an "Alternative Curriculum" to allow the teaching-learning process remain intact even in times of war or pandemic.
