Arambam Samarendra remembered

Patriotic Writers' Forum Manipur observed the 21st death anniversary of Arambam Samarendra by offering floral tributes to the late writer's bust installed at Ningshingkon Park, Chana.
Forum's founder secretary OC Meira and senior member Chana Lembi led the participants in offering the floral tributes.
According to Forum secretary Rakesh Naorem, June 10 is a dark day in the history of Manipur as the state lost a great scholar, cultural activist, Shumang Leela promoter and renowned writer on this day two decades ago.
The observance was organised with the objective to remember the contributions of the late activist to the society and make the present generation aware about it.
OC Meira also recalled Samarendra as an activist, who worked hard to promote theatre, Shumang Leela and film.
Forum president Khamba Luwang and its members from Assam and Tripura presented poems written by the late writer in a virtual session held as part of the observance.
Social Standard Club, Khurai Nandeibam Leikai and Arambam Samarendra Charitable Trust also observed the death anniversary of Samarendra at Nandeibam Leikai with office bearers of both the Trust and the Club joining the observance by offering tributes to the multi-faceted personality.
