Security forces arrest five militants

Imphal, June 08 2015 :
Troops of 40 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) along with Imphal West police commandos launched a joint operation in the general area of Langthabal Khunsa Mayai Leikai and apprehended two cadres of PREPAK including a woman on June 7 .
According to a statement issued by the PRO of IGAR (S), the apprehendees were identified as No � 330078 (Batch No � 33), SS Cpl, Thingujam Sanjoy Meitei alias Lalheiba (31) S/o Thingujam Tombi of Kiyamgei Awang Leikai and No � 380222 (Batch � 38), SS Pvt Ingthojam Gangarani Chanu alias Abesana alias Ayangbi (20) d/o Ningthoujam Ukin Singh of Khangsom Sambram Laibung.
The apprehendees were handed over to the Singjamei Police Station, it said.
Meanwhile, a combined team of Bishnupur district police commando and 2 JK Infantry conducted a search operation on June 6 at Ningthoukhong and arrested one RPF/PLA cadre, according to a statement issued by the PRO, Police Department, Imphal.
The apprehendee has been identified as Laishram Mahesh Singh alias Pukchel (30), s/o L Gopaldas Singh of Ningthoukhong Ward No.14 .
A case has been registered at Bishnupur police station for further investigation.
Based on reliable information, a team of Imphal East district police commando conducted a search operation on June 5 at the eastern side of Kongpal Iranpham Bridge.
During the operation, one former cadre of KYKL presently working for KCP was apprehended.
The apprehendee was identified as Leihaorongbam Sanatomba Singh alias Naoba (37), s/o (L) L Ibohal Singh of Top Awang Leikai, presently residing at Kongpal Chingambam Leikai.
Upon verification, Sanatomba revealed that his associate was expecting at Wangkhei Keithel Ashangbi.
The team along with the apprehendee rushed to Wangkhei Keithel Ashangbi and arrested another KCP cadre.
The individual was identified as Athokpam Rajmohan Singh alias Rajkumar alias RK (28), s/o A Basanta Singh of Chalou Mamang Leikai.
Investigation revealed that they had extorted huge sum of money from general public, private hospitals and schools located in Imphal area.
A case was registered at Porompat police station for further investigation, it said.
