Kangpokpi, March 08 2020:
In yet another Haraothel - Koutruk land dispute issue, civil society organizations of Kangpokpi district have imposed an indefinite economic blockade along NH-2 since 8 pm today.
The late decision to impose the indefinite economic blockade along the National Highway-2 was taken during a joint meeting of CSOs under the aegis of Kuki Inpi, Kangpokpi at KSO Sadar Hills administrative office at Kangpokpi this afternoon.

The civil bodies asserted that since the past few days, villagers of Koutruk had been 'illegally' felling trees in Haraothel area claiming the land to be under Koutruk.
They also alleged that a team of Kangpokpi police which went to the spot today to investigate were restricted and blocked by Koutruk villagers.
The Koutruk villagers even told the police to let Lamsang police handle the matter if necessary.
This testifies their 'devilish' intention of claiming over the Haraothel land as under Imphal West jurisdiction, alleged the CSOs.
The sudden indefinite economic blockade imposed is to register their discontentment, said the CSOs demanding the State Government to initiate immediate action to resolve the dispute.
The blockade will not be lifted until satisfactory steps are taken, they said.
