Imphal, April 28:
Apart from undergoing military training on use of various arms and weapons, all the cadres of the proscribed Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) are being trained in martial art for self defence and regular classes being conducted to educate them.
These little known facts about the life of the KYKL cadres in the wilderness came to light during a recent visit to a battalion headquarters of Miyamgee Yawol Lanmee (MYL), the armed wing of the outfit, located in Ukhrul district.
At the crack of the dawn, all the cadres are up on their feet for their daily regimen of armed training and martial arts under strict supervision of their senior comrades.
Apart from this gruelling exercise session, regular classes are also conducted with the main objective of imparting education to all the cadres.
There appears to be a sense of discipline among the cadres in carrying out their daily routine including works assigned to them.
The morning and the evening meals, which are also cooked by the cadres themselves are served at the strike of 3 am and 6 pm daily.
From 8 pm to 4 am is the sleeping hour to restore the energy after the day's hard work.
Talking to media-persons, publicity and research secretary of the outfit Langamba Mangang informed that the department of party education has been set up newly with the objective of providing education to all the cadres compulsorily.
Responding to a question on the charges that the underground outfits are hampering the developmental works of the people, Langamba countered that it is not the UGs but the Government officials and the politicians who are responsible for lack of development.
Substantiating his point, Langamba said a Government Engineer who has two sons can send both his sons outside Manipur for education and also build a palatial house to live in style and pleasure.
From where has all this money come from, he questioned, adding the they ( politicians and Government officials) are spending more than the income they are earning.
This extra money has not come from the UGs, he said, adding that UGs are taking only a fraction of the amount these people are squandering.
To a question on peace talks, Langamba said peace talk is just ploy to put an end to the revolutionary movement which mean wiping out all the ethnic groups of people living in the region.
Elimination of smaller groups of people from the face of the earth should be opposed, he added.
