Imphal, June 21:
In reaction to the Union home minister, LK Advani's statement following Monday's uprising in lmphal that the Central government's decision on cease-fire extension will not be reviewed "in a huff', the Manipuri Students' Federation stated that Advani's statement was not a statement of an honest public leader, but of a bloodthirsty rabble-rouser that he is.
It said this very statement of Advani has heightened the already towering rage of the people of Manipur.
The MSF, in a release issued to IFP stated that it was solely Advani's sanguinary idiosyncrasy and statements which fuelled the gory incidents that took place years back in Uttar Pradesh surrounding Ram Janmabhumi and Babri Masjid claiming thousands of lives across the country.
The statement said it is injudiciousness of the Centre to think that the cease-fire extension would bring peace in the North East, and it badly missed the fact that the cease-fire would set fire to Manipur.
India being one of the largest democracies, Indian government should have listened to the grievances of the people.
Instead, the government has waived aside the voice of around 25 lakh people of Manipur while smoothly conceding to the pernicious demands of a particular militant organization which the Government itself had declared unlawful, said MSF.
Though Advani may assure the people that territorial integrity has no connection with the cease-fire coverage extension, the people of Manipur can in no way believe in his claim, said the statement.
With reference to the political leaders of the state, the MSF stated that the only sheet anchor for them to get themselves forgiven by the people is to repudiate their "godfather" in New Delhi who are set to disintegrate the state of Manipur and foment bloodshed in the state, and to keep solidarity with the people.
