Imphal, September 18: Including seven rounded up by Thoubal district police commandos atleast 11 activists of different underground organisations have been in the last few days.

A statement issued by the SP (Thoubal) Clay Khongsai informed that at about 4 am yesterday the police commandos conducted search operation at Kakching Super Market area during which one PREPAK cadre namely Naorem Joy Singh (48) s/o (L) N Yaima Singh of the said location was nabbed.

Later at about 8.30 am, three KCP cadres identified as Khundrakpam Indramani Singh (31) s/ (L) Kh Nobin, Thoudam Yaikhomba Meitei alias Prafullo alias Boy (22) s/o (L) Th Shyamjai and Khundrakpam Bankim Singh alias Naocha (22) s/o (L) Kh Biren all of Thoubal Haokha Maning Leikai were apprehended from Haokha village, the SP added.

A woman cadre of the PULF organisation was also arrested by the district commandos at around 9 am yesterday from Kakching Paji Leirak, according to the SP's statement that identified the captive as Mayenglambam Mema Devi (32) d/o (L) M Mangijao alias Mangi of Kakching Paji Leikai.

Mema reportedly disclosed of joining PULF in July this year through one Tikendra alias Suresh and was working in the finance section under the commando of Tikendra with her associate namely Miss Madhuri of PULF, the SP added.

Thoubal police commandos also arrested a KYKL activist namely Naorem Sanaton Singh alias Johnson (28) s/o N Tompok of Kakching Phoushupat from the same location while on September 15 one Huidrom Ibungo alias Nanao (19) s/o H Pishakmacha of Langmeidong Mamang Leikai was netted from kakching Tejpur village.

Three KCP (MC) activists and one PULF cadre were also apprehended by Assam Rifles troops and Imphal West police commandos from different places on September 16 and 17.A release of PRO IGAR (S) informed that 34 AR troops arrested one S/S Cpl of the KCP (MC) namely Ningthem Singh alias Nanao (34) s/o H Yaima of Yambem Mayai Leikai from Yairipok Market.

One Maruti Van (MN03A/949) without legal RC and licence could be recovered from the individual who has been handed over to Yairipok police station on the same day.

The PULF (Umar Farooq) cadre identified as Abdul Akhil (28) s/o Nasib Ali of Lilong Haoreibi Mayai Leikai was nabbed by troops of 32 AR from Turel Ahanbi yesterday, the PRO added.

Two other KCP (MC) cadres were netted by Imphal East police commandos on September 16 at about 9.10 am from Khabeisoi near Sajiwa Jail, with a statement issued by SP (IE) Th Radheshyam identifying the captured duo as Thokpam Chaoba Singh (50) s/o (L) Th Thoiba Singh of Leitanpokpi and Thokpam (O) Tenbi alias Iche (48) w/o Th Chaoba.

The husband-wife duo reportedly disclosed of being active members of KCP (MC) and were working under the command of S/S Finance Commander Deven.

The SP further conveyed that Chaoba Deven used to handover extorted money to Chaoba and Tenbi for delivery to KCP members who are now in Sajiwa Jail.

In the meantime, identity of the person slain by Imphal West police commandos and troops of 32 Assam Rifles on September 16 night at Khongnang Pheidekpi under Singjamei police station has been established as one Sorensangbam Sanayaima (28) s/o Mangijao of Pukhao Naharup.

Family members, to whom the body has been handed over today, alleged that Sanayaima was arrested from his home on the morning of September 16 .
