Imphal, September 18:
Making its stand clear on the issue of forming alliance with other political parties in the upcoming Parliament election, BJP State unit has made known to the Central leaders of the party that it would not have any objection to such alliances provided it is in favour of the party candidates.
Talking to The Sangai Express, former president of the State unit M Bhorot who arrived at Imphal today along with party unit president Dr H Borababu after attending the party's National Executive meeting at Bangalore, informed that Central leaders have been taken into confidence that State unit has no objection as such to formation of alliance with other political parties for the upcoming Parliament election provided it is in favour of the party candidates.
It may be recalled here that with the main objective of defeating Congress party in the election, leaders of the oldest regional party MPP have expressed their desire for formation of an alliance between MPP and BJP when they called on National spokesperson of BJP and Rajya Sabha MP Rajiv Pratap Rudi who came down to Imphal recently.
Bhorot further informed that during the course of the meeting held with the party's Central leaders after the National Executive meeting, the State unit explained that looking at the context of Manipur, formation of an alliance between BJP and any other political parties should be in the interest of the party and its candidates and if even the alliance partner remains with NDA there would not be any problem in conceding some more seats at the time of State Assembly election.
While disclosing that the National Executive meeting presided over by BJP National president Rajnath held seriously deliberated on issues related to preparation for the Parliament election and how to defeat the Congress party, Bhorot informed that the meeting resolved not to form alliance with Congress, Left Parties or Muslim League under any circumstances, though there would be no problem with other political parties in consideration of the ground realities.
