Lt Col Robert TA laid to rest

Indian Army officer Lt Col Robert TA, who was killed after an avalanche hit a patrolling cum snow clearing party in North Sikkim on Thursday was laid to rest at his native village at Maram with full military honour today.
The late army officer's body was reportedly brought to Imphal by flight and subsequently brought to 34 Assam Rifles, Maram Post by an army chopper.
The Assam Rifles received the body of the officer with full honour and held a condolence service at Maram Centre Local Ground.
The Indian Army performed guard of honour including gun salute to the departed officer after laying wreaths.
Tributes was paid by the Northern Maram Defence Personnel Body.
Rev Fr Cyriac, SDB, Parish Priest, St John Bosco Parish, Maram performed the last rites.
NPO (Naga People's Organisation) president Solomon Arow in his condolence message stated that the hearts of people of Senapati district, NPO, all frontal organisations and all tribe presidents are heavy, shocked and saddened by the untimely demise of Lt Col Robert TA.
He was a talented and brave army officer who died in the line of duty safeguarding the country and the people, said Solomon.
"A beautiful soul, full of love and faith, ascended to heaven this day, away from us but closer to God.
We part from our beloved hero in pain to meet again.
When we lose a loved one here on earth, we gain an angel in heaven," he said praying for the departed soul to rest in peace.
He will be forever remembered, added Solomon sharing the pain and grief of the bereaved family members.
Bosco Kashung T, president, Maram Students Union (MKS) in his condolence message stated that demise of the officer was unfortunate.
The officer was very jolly, kind and an inspiration to young generations, Bosco said adding his demise is a great loss for the Maram community, the State and the Nation.
Members of Maram Union, Maram Students Union (MKS), Maram Employees Club and many other leaders read condolence messages.
John Hingba, Vice Chairman, ADC Senapati and Francis Ngajokpa ex-Minister among others attended the last rites.
Earlier, Chief Minister N Biren Singh and titular king Leishemba Sanajaoba had condoled the demise of the army officer.
