Even as the Government reconstituted the board of directors of the ailing Manipur State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) and appoint Advisor (R) N Rammohan as its chairman, corporation employees have threatened to intensify agitation if the Government fails bring a final decision on the salary payment issue by September 14.The appointment of the chairman was effected yesterday while the board of directors were appointed for a period of one year by a Government notification issued today.
Those included in the board are Ng Ghanashyam, legal advisor, State Transport Workers Union, N Brojendra, president Manipur State Transport Workers Association and E Dolendro, president, United MSRTC Workers Association.
Meanwhile, the apex body of the MSRTC's 335 employees, who have not been getting salaries for 24 months, United MSRTC Employees Association today threatened to take up a strong agitation if the authorities fail to solve the salary impasse by September 14.Association general secretary L Mombi told reporters that MSRTC employees have been facing untold hardships and have not been able to send their children to schools due to the non-payment of salaries for 24 months.
The employees had been pursuing only democratic means till date.
However, if the matter of the payment of the salaries were not taken up during the State Plan fund meeting to be held in Delhi on the 14th of this month, the association will intensify its agitations, he said.
