Imphal, September 10 2017:
Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) and All Naga Students Association, Manipur (ANSAM) have appealed to the State Government to look into the deplorable conditions of the schools and colleges which are located in the interiors of the State .
Speaking to media persons at DESAM office at Sagolband today, its president, Moirangthem Angamba said that DESAM along with ANSAM and the Naga Students Union Chandel, inspected the schools and colleges of Chandel district and found that United College, Chandel, which is the only Government College in the district, has far less number of staff than the officially sanctioned posts .
There are no computer laboratory, no proper science practical laboratory, no separate toilets for boys and girls and there was random transfer of teachers, he added.
He further pointed out that Maha Union Secondary School also has very few staff and the mid day meal system is not available at the school .
ANSAM executive secretary, Ac Thotso urged the State Government to look into the matter at the earliest as the poor students depend on these institutions for their education as they cannot afford to study in expensive institutions .
He also pointed out that ANSAM and DESAM will inspect the schools and colleges at Senapati district tomorrow.
