Imphal, March 10:
Reacting swiftly and strongly against the joint statement issued by the KYKL, PREPAK and UNLF, the KCP (Military Council) today said that it was constrained to impose Black Day on March 4 to mark the systematic killing of 15 KCP cadres in batches from March 4, 2007 including Baji Leibakmacha and his men.
In a statement, Propaganda Communicate (sic) Technical Officer Tamnganba Meitei said that the charges levelled against the slain KCP men and Baji Leibakmacha after eliminating does not behove the parties which are deemed to be strong enough and mature to take the fight against India.
The KCP (MC) has never heard of any such elimination in its long years of revolutionary movement, said the statement and added that the so called trial conducted by the three outfits to punish Baji Leibakmacha merits deep introspection by the public.
Even if Baji Leibakmacha and his men were guilty, then why were their misdeeds not made public before they were annihilated, countered KCP (MC) and recalled that it was only they were killed on March 4, 2007 that a statement was issued on March 9, 2007 levelling the charges against them.
On the other hand, Baji and his men were lured on the pretext of holding talks about the unification drive of the KCP, recalled the statement and added that since then they were kept under the custody of the three outfits.
Why wasn't the public told about their 'crimes' before they were done to death, asked KCP (MC).
The three outfits should remember the manner in which the trial of Saddam Hussein, despite his 'crimes' was conducted before the eyes of the public, advised KCP (MC).
Today the people of Manipur are condemning the Armed Forces Special Powers Act, but ironically the very act of the mass elimination of Baji and his men was nothing short of the action taken up under the said Act, charged KCP (MC) and added that this act was executed under the name of revolutionaries.
Tamnganba Meitei went on to question whether the three outfits, KYKL, PREPAK and the UNLF have the mandate of the people to arrive a 'final decision'.
This is nothing but brow beating the people into submission, it charged.
Do the three outfits really understand the ideology of KCP (MC)' s president L Khuman and its comrades, countered the statement and added that levelling charges and takin up action against the outfit on the basis of information provided by some elements who are against the KCP (MC) is nothing but an attempt to portray the outfit in the wrong light, it asserted.
The fact that the KCP (MC) successfully conducted operations at Heirok and Wangjing as well as the co-operation extended on Black Day call, is enough evidence that there are people who support the outfit, claimed the statement.
Adopting a strong stand, the outfit said that since the three groups are out to malign the KCP (MC), it would do its best to counter the charges and detailed some stories.
