Imphal, August 05:
While welcoming the joint declaration of indefinite cease-fire extension between the Government of India and the NSCN (I-M) during a meeting at Dimapur on July 31, Naga National Party (NNP) has expressed appreciation and happiness to both the parties for their non-violent process toward resolving the Naga issue.
In a joint statement, vice president of NNP Th Rapei and general secretary S Muinao said peace is the need of the hour and NPP believes in a civilisation of love and peace in the North Eastern region in general and among the Nagas in particular.
Appealing to all the Naga National workers to come forward and toward bringing peace in 'our land', the joint statement said mere extension of cease-fire whether indefinite or indefinite is not the important thing but the right approach toward finding an honourable solution to the vexed Naga movement which should be acceptable to all sections of Naga both overground and underground thereby ushering in a lasting peace among all Nagas in particular and all people of the region in general.
NPP also appealed to all the different Naga armed groups to set aside their ideological differences, forgive one another's excesses which might have been committed in the past and come together through reconciliation on the negotiation table and try to work out a tangible means so that all groups can sit together and talk with one voice for resolving the issues of the Nagas with the Government of India.
