Imphal, August 05:
The Manipur Legislative Assembly in its special sitting on July 29 referred the complaint against an Assam Rifles Major to the House Committee.
The Major allegedly misbehaved with Health minister Pheiroijam Parijat Singh while the latter was recently on an official tour in Kumbi area.
The committee will study whether conduct of the 7 AR (A-Coy) post Commander Major Nikhil Thakkar breached the house's privilege or not.
Speaker Dr S Budhichandra referred the matter following a complaint from MPP's O Joy Singh.
The Health minister on July 18 was detained about ten minutes and quizzed by the Major at his post.
At the relevant time the para military officer was in shorts and a TShirt.
On July 19 the army authorities had assured of initiating action against the officer.
During the discussion on the incident and reflecting on the Army authorities' contention, Power Minister Phungzathang desired to know as to what sort of action has been taken up against the Major.
