BT Airport comes alive with well wishers

Former chairman of United National Liberation Front (UNLF), RK Meghen alias Sanayaima, was warmly received by a large number of people at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport today afternoon.
Meghen arrived in an Indigo flight from New Delhi.
On the other hand, heavy security measures were taken up at the airport as well as along the route through which the former UNLF chairman would pass on the way to his residence.
Much before the arrival of Meghen, his wife, daughter-in-law, family members, well wishers and leaders of numerous women organisations began gathering at the airport to receive him.
When Sanayaima arrived and stepped out from the airport departure lounge, accompanied by his son RK Chinglen, the people along his family members, warmly welcomed him by garlanding him.
A few minutes before Sanayaima came out of the airport, a team of Imphal West district police forced students and womenfolk, who had gathered along Tiddim road to disperse.
Along with the people holding a banner with the slogan, 'Long Live Manipur', Meghen came out of the airport and proceeded towards Kangla to offer his prayers before going to his residence, in an open Gypsy waving to the people who were waiting on the road sides to greet him.
Upon reaching Keishampat Junction, a large number of police personnel diverted the route by putting up iron barricades along the roads leading to Raj Bhavan and Wahengbam Leikai.
However, after a few words with the police, the procession was allowed to go towards Keishamthong side and then towards Yaiskul Janmasthan.
Upon reaching Moirangkhom traffic junction, Meghen was again stopped from going further towards Kangla by police.
But Sanayaima's family members urged the police personnel to allow him to visit Kangla fort and offer his prayer.
After detaining the procession for more than 30 minutes, police later allowed some of the people, including Meghen's family members to visit Kangla Fort.
Once inside Kangla Fort, RK Meghen offered prayers at Ibudhou Nongsaba Khubam, Ima Leimarel Sidabi Khubam Ibudhou Pakhangba Khubam.
He also offered Tarpan at Chingkhei Pukhri with his wife and family members.
After coming out from Kangla, Sanayaima was warmly received by a large number of womenfolk who were waiting for him outside the Fort holding garlands and flowers.
From there, he proceeded towards Hicham Yaichampat where he was further welcomed by a large number of people holding banners with the slogan, 'Long Live Manipur" and others.
There he offered flowers at the Hicham Yaichampat memorial site along with his wife.
The people gathered in the area shouted slogans including 'Long Live Manipur', 'Ema Leibak Na Yaipharea' and others till he reach his home Upon reaching his home, a grand reception was held during which Meghen interacted with his old childhood friends and elders.
