IM cadres remanded to police custody

Eight NSCN (IM) cadres, who were arrested in the aftermath of former Ukhrul ADC Vice-Chairman Ngalangzar Malue's assassination, were today produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal East and further remanded to 10 days police custody till August 4 .
The cadres have been identified as self styled sergeant Wangkempam Raiping (31) of Tushar village Ukhrul, self styled sergeant major Issaicher Jajo (34) of Ninthi village Ukhrul district, self styled captain VL Shimraygam (33) of Teinem village, Ukhrul district, self styled private Winki (25) of Mon district, Nagaland, self styled L/Cpl Shepachi of Phek district, Nagaland, self styled private Longjee (25) of Wangtha district, Arunachal Pradesh, lance/cpl Somrei (27) of Kangpak village, Ukhrul district and self styled sergeant Khareithing village, Ukhrul.
They were produced in the Court at around 1 pm under FIR number 14(7)2014 Ukhrul Police Station under Section 16 UA (P) Act 363/346/400/341 Indian Panel Code, 5 Explosive Substance Act, 6 (1-A) IWT Act and 25 (I-C) Arms Act.

Police also displayed the items seized from the arrested cadres that included wireless set, pressure bomb, AK-47 magazine and two lives rounds of AK-47 .
It may be mentioned that the cadres were in police custody remand from July 14 after they were arrested by State security forces on July 13 during a raid conducted at NSCN-IM's Wung Region Tacticial Camp Headquarters located in Ukhrul town.
They were shifted to Imphal soon after they were arrested.
All of them were netted barely 24 hours after the assassination of Ngalangzar Malue, former Vice-Chairman of Ukhrul Autonomous District Council by suspected heavily armed NSCN (IM) cadres on July 12 at around 11.40 am at Finch Corner along Imphal Ukhrul road, under Litan Police Station in Ukhrul district.
When the deceased along with one of his nephew was on their way to Nongmei village to meet his ailing mother, the suspected militants launched an attack on them.
