Imphal, May 13 2021:
Taking serious note of the devastating impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in the State, MLA Joykisan has called upon all including CSOs to join hands and fight the pandemic collectively.
In a video message sent to media, Joykisan appealed to all CSOs to step in and join the Government in tackling the pandemic.
Stating that the pandemic has reached a critical situation in the State, the Congress MLA highlighted the need for CSOs to take leading roles.
CSOs may facilitate transportation of Covid infected people to Covid Care Centres and recommend hospitals and centres where they may be treated after seeing the health conditions of the infected persons.
It would also be very helpful if some Medical Officers are designated to advise CSOs from time to time, Joykisan said.
It is advisable for the Government to check whether the inmates of Covid Care Centres (CCCs) are served warm and nutritious foods or not.
The responsibility of serving food to CCCs may be entrusted to CSOs.
Expressing deep concern over the ever rising death toll, the MLA reacting to the claim of the Government and hospital authorities that many patients were bought to hospitals very late when their oxygen level became very low questioned whether the patients wished to come late or the hospital authorities brought them late.
Categorically stating that the Government is unable to bring Covid patients to hospitals in time, Joykisan noted that 40/50 Covid patients have been lining in queue for they are refused admission on the pretext there are no ambulances or vacant beds.
Even as the CMOs and doctors were asked two/three days if beds would be available for patients from Thangmeiband AC, there has been no response till date, Joykisan said.
He then asked under what circumstances the hospital authorities were saying Covid patients were admitted late.
Joykisan further appealed to all medical students and nurses who have completed their courses to come forward and help the Government overcome the pandemic.
He urged all concerned to work together to ensure that there is no shortage of oxygen or vaccines for second dose.
