Imphal, October 07 2013 :
A four-point memorandum, the foremost being Tousem sub-division should not be included as and when Jiribam is upgraded to the status of a full fledged district, was jointly submitted to Chief Minister O Ibobi today by some Zeliangrong civil society organisations.
The memorandum was jointly submitted by Zeliangrong Baudi, Village Authority Chairmen Council, Zeliangrong Youth Front and Zeliangrong Students' Union Tousem Zone.
Through the memorandum, they urged the Government to bring out a land sketch map of the proposed Barak Circle sub-division.
Removal of Jiri police outpost presently located at Tatbung or renaming it as Tousem police outpost was another point of the memorandum.
Removal of IRB training centre presently located at Kamraugkha Khasia or renaming it as Tousem IRB training centre was the third point of the memorandum.
It further demanded that frontal organisations of Tousem sub-division should be taken into confidence in the process of erecting border pillars between Jiribam sub-division and Tousem sub-division.
Speaking to media persons at Ragailong ZYF office this afternoon, ZB Tousem Zone chairman Namteuliang Pamei said that people of Tousem sub-division have many areas of grievances against the steps taken up by the Government towards upgrading Jiribam sub-division into a full fledged district.
Tousem sub-division is already one of the most backward sub-divisions where there is little or no health care facility and transport infrastructure is anything but serviceable.
Coupled with these long standing grievances, people of the sub-division are now apprehensive in case any part of the sub-division is given to Jiribam as and when it is upgraded to a district.
Another memorandum similar to today's memorandum was earlier submitted to the Chief Minister on August 17 .
In case no positive response comes from the Government during the next 15 days, Zeliangrong frontal organisations would be constrained to launch all sorts of agitation, Namteuliang Pamei said.
