Death toll climbs to 293, cases to 25,390

Imphal, December 02 2020:
COVID-19 infected 147 persons and claimed three lives in Manipur in the last 24 hours.
The total number of COVID-19 positive cases has reached 25,390 while the death toll has climbed to 293 .
The number of active cases is 3162 and the recovery rate stands at 86.40 percent.
Notably, the 42-year-old COVID-19 victim from Imphal West which was reported by this paper yesterday has not been reflected in the official report of the COVID-19 Common Control Room, which issues daily updates on the COVID-19 situation in the State.
The common control room today reported only two deaths and a death toll of 291 .
Two persons, one 58-year-old woman from Imphal West and a 70-year-old man from Imphal East died at RIMS and JNIMS Hospital respectively in the last 24 hours, said the report of the COVID-19 Common Control Room issued by Additional Director (Health), Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang.
The other victim not included in the Government report has been identified as a Colonel of the Indian army from Hariyana's Gurgaon.
He died at Shija Hospital yesterday night, said sources.
Meanwhile, the 147 persons who tested positive for coronavirus include 6 personnel of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) and 141 civilians.
The 141 civilians including 67 males and 74 females hail from Imphal West (54), Imphal East (31), Bishnupur (15), Thoubal (13), Tamenglong (13), Kangpokpi (4), Senapati (2), Churachandpur (2), Tengnoupal (2), Jiribam (2), Chandel (1), Noney (1) and Kakching (1) .
All of them have no significant travel history.
They are being shifted to COVID-19 Care Centres and necessary medical precautionary measures are in place, said the report of the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
On the other hand, 219 persons have recovered from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.
While 122 of them recovered while under home isolation, the remaining have been discharged from COVID-19 Care Centres opened at RIMS (26), CAPF (18), LKK (12), JNIMS (10), Bal Bhavan (8), Bishnupur (7), UNACCO (6), Tamenglong (5), RD Wing (2), TK Ukhrul (2) and Raj Medicity (1) .
The cumulative number of COVID-19 positive cases has reached 25,390 including 22260 civilians and 3130 security personnel.
The total number of recovered cases is 21937 including 19136 civilians and 2801 security personnel.
The number of active cases is 3162 including 2837 civilians and 325 security personnel.
The recovery rate is 86.40 percent, said the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
A late report from JNIMS said 286 samples were tested and 40 of them were positive for COVID-19 today.
