Union Home Minister Amit Shah presented the trophy for Best Police Station of India to Premkumar Mangang, Officer-in-Charge of Nongpok Sekmai Police Station virtually during the DGP/IGPs conference 2020 at the office Subsidiary Intelligence Bureau near Officers' Club today.
A statement released by PRO Manipur Police said, in 2015 Prime Minister directed the DGPs conference at Kutch, Gujarat, to lay down parameters for grading police stations on their performance as' well as citizens' feedback.
Accordingly, the annual assessment of the Best Police Station Scheme was undertaken to identify and recognise the ten best police stations of the country and also the best police station in a particular State or Union Territory.
For the current year, Nongpok Sekmai police station was named the Best Police Station of the country on November 24 by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) .
The police station was inspected by a team from MHA and various parameters were checked.
The statement added that such an achievement was possible because of sincere effort of Keisam Premkumar Mangang and his team under the strict guidance of Dr S Ibomcha, SP of Thoubal police and other senior officers of the Police Department under the able leadership of LM Khaute, DGP of Manipur and the overall supervision of Chief Minister N Biren Singh who is also the Home Minister of Manipur.
Nambol Police Station and City Police Station, Imphal West, Manipur were also selected as the Best Police Stations of Manipur for the year 2018 and 2019 respectively by MHA, added the statement.
The statement also said, the award was a recognition of professionalism, hard work, dedication and community oriented policing by Manipur Police and they will continue to do so in the service of the people of Manipur in the years ahead.
