Imphal, December 02 2020:
The High Court has reserved the judgement order on the anticipatory bail filed by ex-Chief Minister Okram Ibobi in the MDS scam.
The Court gave one week's time to ED (Enforcement Directorate) and O Ibobi to file written arguments.
Justice MV Muralidaran was hearing the anticipatory bail application through video conference.
It may be noted that ex-CM and CLP leader O Ibobi had filed the anticipatory bail application before the High Court of Manipur based on the report that the ED is likely to register a case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) against him, Manipur Development Society former Project Director Y Ningthem, former Chief Secretaries, DS Poonia, PC Lawmkunga and O Nabakishore.
It has been alleged that between June 30, 2009 and July 6, 2017, they had allegedly misappropriated Government funds worth Rs 332 crore out of Rs 518 crore which were sanctioned for development projects in Manipur.
Earlier the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) had registered a case against them in November 2019 and carried out raids in 9 locations including Aizawl, Imphal, Gurgaon in connection with the case and recovered huge amounts of cash including demonetised currency notes.
