A number of voluntary organisations of Kakhulong have strongly rebuffed the statement of the All Zeliangrong Students� Union that they support the cease fire extension to the soil of Manipur.
In a joint statement, the Kakhulong Pelkai (Thouboi), Kakhulong Women Society and the Kakhulong Youth�s Committee today stated that contrary to reports the headquarters of the All Zeliangrong Students� Union is not located at Kakhulong.
The organisations said the signatories of the statement, N Diswang Hau and Krispas Pamei are residents of Haflong in Assam.
They said the statement of the two persons do not in any way reflect the sentiments and aspirations of the Zeliangrong people who have been residing in Manipur since time immemorial.
In another statement the Kakhulong Youths� Committee said Kakhulong always stand for the territorial integrity of Manipur.
The statement that he HQ of the AZSU is located at Kakhulong is baseless and unfounded.
The Kangchup area tribal development committee (KATDC) today stated that a joint meeting of tribal village�s chiefs of Kangchup area was held on June 26 at the residence of Haokhopao Hangsing Chief of K Chingkhong.
The chairman of the KATDC Thangading presided over the meeting.
The joint meeting welcomed the peace process between the GOI and NSCN (IM) but strongly opposed the truce extension to the soil of Manipur.
The meeting also decided to whole heartedly support any movement launched by AMUCO, AMSU, and AMKIL etc to protect territorial integrity of State.
The United Clubs Organisation, Bishnupur (UCOBID) and the Zeliangrong Union, South Zone also strongly opposed the extension of the cease fire to Manipur during a meeting held yesterday at 11 am.
The meeting was presided by UCOBID president Priyokumar Laishram and ZU south zone chairman Rh Gaisom Kabui.
Members of the ZU (SZ), Kabui Chiefs and villagers, representatives of Meitei Presbyterian Church, leaders of Ningthoukong Singlup and the vice president of AMUCO attended the meeting.
The meeting resolved to protect the territorial integrity of the State at all cost, condemn killing of fourteen persons on June 18, to boycott the MLAs within the jurisdiction of UCOBID and ZU (SZ), to urge the Center to revoke the truce extension decision and the ZU (SZ) and UCOBID will extend co-operation to any movements against the designs to dismember the territorial of the state.
The Hmar Inpui also strongly condemned the decision of the Centre to extend the cease fire to the soil of Manipur and offered its condolences to the families of the fourteen persons killed in the June 18 firing.
A sum of Rs 2000 was also donated for the firing victims.
