To voice their strong opposition to the extension of the cease fire between the Government of India and the NSCN (IM) to the soil of Manipur and to safeguard the territorial integrity of the State, the Integrated Manipuri Association, Bangladesh staged a massive public rally at Bangladesh on June 25.The rally participated by a number of voluntary organisation s and clubs carried placards and banners reading, �Stop Indo-Naga cease fire extension to Manipur� � Territorial boundary of Manipur should be safeguarded,� � Indian authority must go against the interest of Manipur� �Stop oppressing the Manipuri of Manipur� etc.
the slogans were written in English, Bangla and Manipuri.
Meitei Muslims participated in the rally.
The rally started from National Press Club and finally converged at the National Shaheed Minar where a public meeting was held, said IMA.
Speakers at the meeting voiced their strong opposition to the geographical expansion of the ceasefire to the soil of Manipur.
The meeting also strongly condemned the killing of fourteen persons in CRPF firing during the June 18 uprising and also the injuries inflicted on scores of other protestors.
The imposition of indefinite curfew thereby subjecting the people of the State to immense hardship was also strongly condemned.
Memoranda were submitted to the Ministry of External Affairs, Bangladesh, Indian High Commission and the United Nations to immediately revoke the cease fire extension and not to disturb the territorial boundary of Manipur.
All the major newspapers of Bangladesh covered the rally, said IMA.
