Imphal, October 22:
Violating Court order a police officer, on the instigation of one TT Haokip forcibly took away four children from the custody of the mother.
This is a case of guardianship and custody of six minor girls and the matter has been brought before the Manipur Human Rights Commission.
The complainant is a widow and mother of the six minor girls.
She is also the petitioner of a case now pending before the Addl District Judge, West (Original guardianship case) against T Thangzalam Haokip, Chinnevah Haokip and Onjamang Haokip.
By an interim order dated August 27 2002 passed by the Addl Dist judge certain arrangement had been made to afford her to have time with her children on every Sundays and second Saturdays of every month.
As per the order, TT Haokip and party has been directed to produce the children at the residence of advocate RK Nolini at Thangmeiband Lourungpurel Leikai.
On October 9 being a second Saturday, the complainant reached the house of advocate Nolini to meet her children.
At about 4 pm TT Haokip came with only 4 children and he hurriedly left the place and again came with some armed police personnel led by one SI of Imphal PS and asked the advocate to hand over the children in time.
Nolini refused to give the children by virtue of the court's order.
However the children were forcibly taken by dishonoring the court's order.
Since then the complainant had been deprived of meeting her children.
On October 10 the complainant lodged a complaint to the DGP against the unlawful act of the SI but no action has been made against the police officer.
Hence the matter has been put before the MHRC.
