Newly elected Konthoujam AC MLA Sapam Budhichandra was today sworn in as a member of State Legislative Assembly by Speaker TN Haokip in a simple oath taking ceremony.
The oath taking ceremony which began at around 11 am at the State Legislative Assembly's committee room was attended by Ministers and MLAs of both the ruling and Opposition parties.
With the induction of Dr S Budhichandra as member of the State legislative Assembly today, the Konthoujam AC seat which has been lying vacant since the election of Dr T Meinya as Lok Sabha MP has been filled.
Talking to media persons after the oath taking ceremony, Dr S Budhichandra said with a sigh of relief that he was very happy and excited knowing that he would be able to participate in Govt's discussion pertaining to sensitive issues of the people.
Referring to assurances made by him during the elections, he said that he would definitely translate some of them into action if not all in the remaining two year of his term.
Priority would be on development and improvement of roads under Konthoujam AC, he added.
