A newly constructed artistes' workshop cum dormitory located near Cultural Complex, Palace Compound, was inaugurated by Chief Minister O Ibobi today.
The new building constructed at the cost of Rs 108 lakhs has three storeys and has 12 rooms and a conference hall.
Speaking as chief guest in the inaugural function organised by Art and Culture Department, Chief Minister O Ibobi hailed the hailed the artistes of the State working in different fields.
Stating that the State Government has plans to develop Palace Compound as a cultural complex of Manipur, the Chief Minister stressed on the need for people's cooperation to execute the Government's plan.
He also asked the people not to encroach upon Government land and not to build houses on these lands.
The Chief Minister announced that more funds will be sanctioned for development of institutions related to art and culture of the State so that they fulfil the criteria of being a modern institute.
During the function presided by Art and Culture Commissioner P Bhorot, Executive Engineer Th Shyamo, contractor G Kakhangai Kabui and sub-contractor Th Tomba who were engaged for the construction were also felicitated.
