Upward trend continues, five more die

There is no sign as yet of the State's COVID-19 graph flattening any time soon.
On the contrary, the State recorded five more COVID-19 related deaths and 258 fresh positive cases during the last 24 hours.
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, five COVID-19 positive individuals (two females, three males) died at RIMS, Raj Medicity and Shija Hospital.
The latest victims included two females aged 39 and 71, and one male aged 68 from Imphal West, 54-year old man from Imphal East and a 3 5-year old man from Thoubal.
The total death toll now stands at 207 .
Imphal West leads the table of deaths with 66 followed by Imphal East with 46, Thoubal at 41, Churachandpur (20), Kangpokpi (10), Bishnupur (7), Chandel (6), Tamenglong (4), Tengnoupal (3), Kakching (2), Kamjong (1), Noney (1).Jiribam, Pherzawl, Senapati and Ukhrul have not reported any death so far.
In the meantime, 254 people including 26 personnel of CAPF were tested positive for COVID-19 during the last 24 hours at JNIMS, RIMS, Imphal East, Imphal West, CMC, Maipakpi Hospital, Mother's Care, Escent Diagnostics, Swiss Clinic, Acme, Shija Hospital, Christian Hospital, Imphal Hospital, Raj Medicity, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Kakching, Tamenglong, Ukhrul, Tengnoupal, Churachandpur, Chandel, Kangpokpi, Kamjong, Jiribam and Babina Diagnostics.
The 228 civilians who have been tested positive belong to Imphal West (71), Imphal East (54), Thoubal (14), Bishnupur (17), Kakching (4), Ukhrul (11), Tamenglong (24), Churachandpur (11), Tengnoupal (2), Kangpokpi (4), Senapati (1), Kamjong (5), Chandel (8) and Jiribam (2).None of them has any significant history of travelling outside the State.
During the last 24 hours, 191 COVID-19 positive persons were discharged from CAPF (2), home isolation (57), JNIMS (1), RIMS (17), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (58), CCC UNACCO (24), RD Wing (4), Kakching (2), Bal Bhavan (7), Thoubal (5), Bishnupur (7), Kangpokpi (1) and Tamenglong (6).The cumulative figure of COVID-19 positive cases has reached 21,211 (general population 18345, Central security personnel 2866).It includes 3115 active cases (general population 2859, Central security personnel 256) and 17889 discharged cases (general population 15283, Central security personnel 2606).The recovery rate as on Thursday is 84.33 per cent.
