Imphal, September 12, 2009:
The Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) is all set to intensify the ongoing mass movement being undertaken under the stewardship of the Apunba Lup.
A press release issued by the MSF said that they have adopted a decision in this regard because of the Government's casual treatment of the movement being spearheaded by meira paibis/women activists.
The large number of casualties suffered by Meira Paibis and other activists has also necessitated such a decision.
The student body also appealed to the people not to perceive MSF in wrong light when it takes recourse to some methods to intensify the people's movement.
Saying that the foremost agenda would be paralysing Govt offices, it said that MSF would focus its attention on Government offices.
MSF also asked all private schools not to take tuition fee of the days when no classes were conducted because of curfew imposed by the state.
In case, the tuition fee for those days were already collected, the same should be reimbursed or adjusted with the tuition fee of the next month.
Van service operators and other vehicles carrying students should not take fares of the days when schools remained closed due to curfew.
The MSF further asked all coaching/tuition centres to suspend their classes from September 14 as a mean of showing solidarity to the people's movement.
Calling upon employees of all Government Departments other than Police Department not to extend cooperation in Government activities, the student body appealed to the employees not to act in personal manner when MSF together with the local people strike Government offices to paralyse them.
It further called upon students of Law, Medicine and Technical courses to take active roles in the ongoing people's movement.
Whether studying Law is to watch violation of human rights by police or pursuing medical and technical courses meant building mortuaries, security barracks and treatment of dead persons need to be answered by students of these courses, the MSF asserted.
It appealed to students of these courses to suspend their study for sometime in solidarity to the people's movement.
