A newly constructed dormitory of Maram Morung, a traditional centre of the Maram tribe where youngsters are taught discipline and social ethics was inaugurated today.
Maram Morung is also a centre of the culture, traditions and customary laws of the Marams.
The inaugural function of the new building constructed at Sagongbam village was graced by Karaipoushiba Magaimei, the oldest man of Maram.
Maram Khullen chief K Namba and Maram Hoho president RK Peter also attended the function.
The new building was inaugurated by mission secretary of the Maram Naga Baptist Association, Rev K Daniel.
Speaking at the occasion, Karaipoushiba Magaimei underscored the need on the part of Maram people to join the renewed movements being witnessed across the world for preservation and promotion of indigenous culture, tradition and customs.
He called upon the youth to shed malicious thoughts and work together for betterment of the society.
The inaugural function also featured folk music and dance.
