Imphal, April 06 2015 :
As decided at the 22nd Congress of CPI, Left, secular and democratic forces of the country have geared up to launch massive protest movements in order to prevent BJP-led NDA Government's attempt to pass the Land Acquisition Bill 2015 .
CPI State unit secretary Dr M Nara who also took part in the 22nd Congress of CPI held at Puducherry from March 25 to 29 told media persons at Irabot Bhavan here today that the NDA Government has been employing all its resources and might to get the Bill passed so that land required by foreign companies to set up 18 industrial corridors can be acquired and handed over to the foreign companies.
Even as the Land Acquisition Bill 2015 which would give away 35 per cent of the country's arable land has been passed by the Lok Sabha, it has been struck down by the Rajya Sabbha.
Apprehensive that the Bill would be rejected by the Rajya Sabha, the BJP-led NDA Government has been scheming to introduce the same Bill in the form of an ordinance.
In order to prevent the Bill from becoming an Act, CPI decided to undertake a mass protest movement on May 14 across the country, Dr Nara said.
Strong protest movements would be launched in Manipur too after April 14 in phased manner.
Left, secular and democratic forces of the country would spare no efforts to give a new direction to the BJP Government's anti-farmer policy.
The issues of Manipur's territorial integrity, AFSPA and the question of saving Sharmila's life were also raised at the party's congress and the gathering backed all these motions.
Stating that any attempt to reach a solution between NSCN-IM and Government of India should not infringe upon the territorial integrity of Manipur, Dr Nara questioned the premises upon which the two sides agreed to work out a solution within a specific time period.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi should bring out a status report of the protracted political dialogue between NSCN-IM and Government of India.
Any kind of solution worked out between the two sides should not impinge upon the integrity of Manipur.
Ex-MLA N Mangi said that 2015 would be a year of struggle for CPI.
He said that the party would struggle for the territorial integrity of Manipur, withdrawal of AFSPA from Manipur and many other key issues of the State.
He then urged the Government to open a separate VDF battalion and increase their salaries.
All the facilities entitled to policemen should be extended to VDF personnel too.
